Legislative Advocacy During each state legislative session, The Arc of Nebraska familiarizes itself with any legislation that may affect the lives of Nebraskans with intellectual or developmental disabilities and their families. We then prioritize the bills through our Governmenal Affairs Committee to decide what sort of action, if any, we will take on them. Below is a link to the legislative bills we will be following this session and the positions and actions we intend to take on the bills.
It is important to note that the action The Arc takes on proposed legislation only goes so far. Your voice matters! Lawmakers and other community leaders want to hear from you! If you are interested in writing a letter to your Senator or offering testimony on a piece of legislation, please complete the action alert form at the bottom of this page to receive alerts directly in your inbox!

Medicaid Medicaid Reform is a hot topic everywhere especially as funding and resources become more scarce. Unfortunately, Medicaid Reform can happen on the backs of those who are most vulnerable unless they speak out. This is where The Arc of Nebraska needs you! While we track legislation that addresses Medicaid and Medicaid Reform, only you can tell about your own experiences or those of a family member. To learn how you can talk with legislators and others about Medicaid, complete the action alert form below to receive alerts directly in your inbox!

Waiting List Each year Nebraskans with developmental disabilities become eligible for services they need to support the way in which they want to live. Unfortunately, the way these resources are allocated makes them a scarcity. Instead of being able to recieve supports to assist someone to be as independent as possible so that they can be contributing members of their community and pursue their own hopes and dreams, people are placed on a waiting list for needed services and supports. The Arc of Nebraska strongly supports the elimination of the waiting list. The greatest impact of doing away with the waiting list comes from you! If you or your family member have a story about how the waiting list has affected you, share it with others, especially your Senator! To learn more about how to take action on the waiting list, complete the action alert form at the bottom of this page. You will receive action alerts directly in your inbox!
