Employment is a priority for The Arc of Nebraska. Most people feel a sense of satisfaction by their employment. Most often it's something they choose. Unfortunately, this is the exception rather than the rule for many Nebraskans with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Instead, many individuals find themselves either unemployed or underemployed. It is also difficult for people to find real jobs that they find meaningful in their community. While some programs exist to assist with this effort, it is not anywhere near where it needs to be. The Arc of Nebraska is committed to working with other organizations to learn about best practices and to advocate for any opporunity that will create jobs for Nebraskans with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The Arc of Nebraska strives to be an active participant in ensuring that all Nebraskans are able to have the kind of job or career they would like to have. The Arc is proud to be a part of Nebraska APSE, a statewide association of organizations and indviduals who also want to ensure that individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities can pursue careers of their choosing with the proper supports.
