5 Steps to Becoming an Arc Advocate! 

1) Online Application. 

Complete our online application in approximately 30 minutes. Be prepared to provide your personal information (name, address, interest), and 3 references. 

2) Interview with Arc of Nebraska staff. 

When your application is approved, staff from the Arc of Nebraska will contact you to schedule a 1 hour interview to get to know you more personally and ensure the Arc Advocates Program is the right volunteer opportunity for you. 

3) Pass background checks. 

After your initial acceptance to become an Arc Advocate, you will be asked to consent to a background check initiated by the Arc of Nebraska. 

4) Complete training. 

You will be asked to complete an 8 hour training session over the following topics: Arc Introduction, Bargaining Tools, General Compliance, People First Language, DD Waiver, AD Waiver, IEP, Negotiating, and Arc Reporting. 

5) Be assigned to an individual or family. 

Upon completion of your Arc Advocates training, you will be assigned to an individual or family. Your introductory meeting will be facilitated by staff from the Arc of Nebraska and your volunteer plan will be established.
