The interRAI is a functional needs assessment tool used by Nebraska's Department of Health & Human Services to maintain eligibility and demonstrate ongoing needs of services. This assessment takes place annually for individuals receiving a DD Waiver.

Self-advocates and families want to know more about this new interview process, so we are hoping to share important details to support informed decision making and quality care. If you or your individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities(I/DD) has already completed an interRAI assessment, we want to hear your feedback. ⭐Talk to your DHHS service coordinator to coordinate scheduling & other assessment errors following completion.
⭐Discuss when the annual assessment will occur with your employer & share the importance of setting aside that time to participate ahead of time.
⭐Advocate for thorough provider documentation. Be sure to enroll in Therap to view documentation as a Guardian.
⭐Share honest conversations regarding daily life & abilities.
⭐Did you know? As a family member, caregiver, or school support you can advocate for your individual with I/DD. Be sure to connect with the primary service provider(day-service or community-based provider) to stay in the loop about the interRAI assessment date.
